The band was formed in 1975 by former members of the
Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders.
The Band was known initially as the Plymouth Argyll Pipeband.
In 1985 the band, due to kind permission of the city council changed its name to,
The City of Plymouth Pipeband.
The band is now proud to name the city mayor as one of its patrons.
In recent years the band has represented Plymouth at
Europes largest maritime festival In Brest,
2000 and again 2004.
It will also be remembering 200 years since Trafalgar.
The band will play at the International Festival Of the Sea
IFOS 2005 at Portsmouth
The band also took place in one of the largest gathering of pipers at the
Great Millenium parade in Edinburgh,
Which this year the band hope to better
by setting a record at the Marie Currie event
on 21st August 2005
when up to 20,000 pipers march this time!!
